One payment for every account

Consumers with several accounts can now pay them all, or set up one plan across them, in a single proPay transaction.

Why we built it

Many consumers hold more than one account with you. A hospital stay can leave several separate bills, and a consumer may have a few loans placed with the same agency. The consumer pays them all from the same budget.

proPay used to treat each account on its own. One payment covered one account, and one plan belonged to one account. A consumer with four accounts had to make four payments or set up four plans, entering card details and confirming terms each time, and every extra step was a chance to give up. For some customers, paying across accounts was a requirement before they could move to proPay at all.

How it works

One payment or one plan can now cover several eligible accounts.

  • Consumers can pay everything at once with Pay All, or pick the accounts they want to include.
  • You can also group accounts in advance, for example under a file number, and consumers can sign in with that file number instead of an individual account number.
  • Each payment is split across the accounts by the rule you set: in proportion to balance, equally, oldest first or highest balance first.
  • Before anything is charged, the consumer sees exactly how much goes to each account, and the breakdown is emailed afterward.
  • Combined accounts must pay into the same bank account, so every payment still routes where it belongs.
  • Single-account payments work exactly as they do today.

What you get

More consumers resolve all their accounts instead of stopping after the first. A single charge in place of several means fewer processing fees. Your records still show what went to each account, and because consumers approve the split before paying, fewer questions come back afterward. proAgent already works through several accounts in one call, and proPay now does the same in the portal.
